"There are Devils in My House"

“Now more than ever we are aware of our relationships with our homes. The past few years of lockdowns and standards of living have made us think of the home to be a place of safety and security and on the other hand a place of solitude and isolation. In lieu I want to focus on issues around mental health and challenges we face within ourselves.

In my installation ‘There are devils in my house’ I will use the metaphor of the house to explore our connections with our surroundings, society and the subconscious. The installation will be set against a backdrop of a tile mural that I plan to make in collaboration with Johnsons Tiles ltd.  At the center will be a ‘Hellmouth’ fireplace, which is symbolic of the human fascination with the afterlife and how the consequences of our actions in life may affect what happens in death.”

Installation created for the British Ceramics Biennial AWARD Exhibition 2023.
